Founded in 1976, Xccent, Inc. began as a company offering customized solutions for plastisol coated and molded products. Xccent’s focus expanded to the outdoor recreation industry, when it became the first manufacturer to coat steel fabricated outdoor recreation equipment, such as benches, tables and playground equipment, in plastisol. This proprietary process gave the equipment strength, durability, color, and more importantly, a much safer and forgiving surface for people to sit on, as well as children to play on. The growing commercial recreation industry immediately recognized the value of the process and Xccent, Inc. quickly became the major supplier to most recreation and playground equipment manufacturers. Product innovations such as a revolutionary polymer hinge that gave safe “no-pinch, no-crush” benefits to products involving motion, birthed the patented “Playmotion” technology found today throughout Xccents recreation and fitness divisions. Building on the know how and experience in commercial outdoor recreation products, Xccent launched its line of outdoor fitness equipment; bringing “Real Fitness Equipment with Real Fitness Benefits” to a variety of customers including municipal/neighborhood fitness, university fitness, senior fitness and corporate fitness . . . all outside in the great outdoors.

Xccent owners John Mathiesen and Pat Mathiesen have spent most of their adult lives and reside less than 10-miles from the Xccent manufacturing facility, and take great pride in the outdoor fitness area of their business. “With seemingly every news story today involving issues of obesity, sedentary lifestyles and general health and wellness problems, as well as the hardships of today’s economic challenges, we saw a great opportunity to use our experience to bring folks real fitness opportunities to where they work, where they play and where the live . . . all outside in the fresh air.
